Fun Friday

We decided to take advantage of the crazy cool weather he had this morning and Maddie, Tyler, Colby and I all went down to the park. Maddie and Tyler rode their scooters around while Colby and I played on the slides and on the swings. It looked like it was going to rain early this morning but turned out to be a great park day with a nice cool breeze!

Tyler Swimming

We were out at the pool today and I decided to try the video feature on my digital camera. The quality is pretty poor and I did not realize it recorded sound as well but I got some video footage of Tyler swimming. Only day 3 of swim lessons and look how good he is :)

Swim Lessons

Wow! It has only been 2 days now and both Tyler and Colby have come such a long way in swim class. Tyler can actually swim the right way now(horizontal with face in water) and Colby has already learned he needs to hold his breath when his face is about to go in the water and is already starting to kick in the horizontal swim position! I think that Colby is definitely going to be a water baby!! In my opinion, teaching them to swim when they are young is definitely the way to go!

Jason thinks the swim instructor I found costs a fortune (I think she is very competitive for private lessons) but I already think she is wonderful! It doesn't look like she is doing much - especially since the lessons are only 10 minutes long - but Jason and I have had Tyler in the water for 3 whole summers and he has never swam like that for us! I am already very happy with their progress and I think the money is/will be well worth it. If you are interested in our swim instructor, here is the website http://www.infantaquatics.com/ ... There are a few instructors in the DFW area, I chose the one in the Allen area, her name is Cindy Clark... this group of instructors is about 'teaching kids to swim*float*swim' and learning water survival techniques.

OH, and I know 10 minutes does not seem like a long time but believe me, it is plenty long when it's a private lesson.

Some fun water pics (not from swim class)...

Colby loves to relax in his little boat...

Grand Saline

This past Wednesday (5/30) Jason and I set out for the little East Texas town of Grand Saline - Home of the Morton Salt Company! For those that don't know, this is where Jason grew up. We went down there to see his childhood buddy, Chris Tomlin, perform a free concert at the annual Salt Festival. It was quite amusing for me... I got to see the crowning of this year's 'Salt Queen'... hear a rodeo guy talk about rodeoing (is that a word?) and drive through a town named Elmo! I think the town of Grand Saline is one of the bigger towns around (about 2600 people)... I mean they have a Sonic and everything. The Sonic is/was such a hit that they had to install a red light in front of it because of all the traffic. Grand Saline also has the famous Salt Palace Museum... check out this pic:

This 'Palace' is the only building in North America made of pure rock salt. It's true, too... just ask Jason how yummy it is!
